*Crater of Diamonds State Park, Murfreesboro, Arkansas.
This trip will be scheduled when area high temperatures drop to more comfortable levels. Trippers will meet to form a caravan. More info to follow. What to take with you? The Crater is exposed to direct sunshine. Expect cooler humid weather. Water, hat, sunglasses, sun block, old clothes and shoes. Take a change of clothes with you. You can rent bucket, shovel, wagon, screens, etc. at the Crater. Remember: a significant deposit is required and will be returned when you return your rented gear.

MAY 2016

Palestine Selenite Field Trip. A dozen Selenite seekers met at McCoys Building Supply parking lot in Palestine, Texas at 8 AM, May 23rd. We then caravaned 13-14 miles southwest to our collecting site. Our goal: find clear Selenite crystal clusters. And we did find them...lots of them! Some members trekked to a nearby creek and found petrified wood, agate and small fossils. Kudos to Fred Mahaffey for a great trip!

May 2016

The North Sulfur River field trip was on May 23 and was attended by seven members. Rain dogged our intrepid fossil hunters, but fun and finds were had by all. The rigorous climb up and down the banks of the River, made slick by rain, challenged all, but our folks emerged unscathed.

Pending Field Trips

* Clifton Texas Lime Plant - Fossils
* Trinity River - petrified wood
* Angelina National Forest- petrified palm wood, agates
* Arkansas Ouachita Forest - Quartz crystals
* Arkansas - Crater of Diamonds State Park (in the Spring?)

Still have phone calls to make and people to see. Group
hunting for minerals takes logistic planning. The Trinity River      trip in particular, because it may require arranging with       member(s), who own boats, to help get us to collecting areas.
